Personal Background and Story
Hi, I’m Rafa! (Hafa)
I’m originally from Brazil and have been taking care of infants and toddlers for several years now. I’ll never forget my first long-term nanny family. The mom had a very organized schedule for her baby — it was my first time learning about wake windows and the power of routines. At the same time, I cared for another baby with little structure. Seeing the difference firsthand was eye-opening: the baby with a routine was happier, more settled, and slept so much better. Applying the same tools with the other family transformed their sleep — and their days.
For me, sleep consulting is personal. I believe we should always be learning, growing, and becoming better versions of ourselves. That philosophy also guides the way I work with families — helping raise the next generation with more balance, gentleness, and understanding than we had ourselves. Supporting parents through these early years is my way of contributing to a healthier, happier future for both children and families.
Experience and Credentials
I have several years of experience as a nanny for infants, and a Master’s in Data Science, which helps me track routines, analyze patterns, and adapt sleep strategies based on both science and careful observation. I’m also currently training as a Holistic Pregnancy and Child Sleep Consultant, specializing in a holistic approach that considers the whole family to gently and effectively solve sleep challenges for babies and toddlers.
My Approach & Philosophy
I believe that the child provides us with all the information we need to create the perfect routine. Sleep guidance should be gentle, family-centered, and tailored to each child. Every baby is unique, and there’s no “one-size-fits-all” solution. I focus on creating structure and routines while also teaching families about best ways to support emotional well-being and brain development. Also to remain flexible and responsive when a baby needs adjustments or extra support.
I do not rely on cry-it-out or other sleep training methods. Instead, I combine compassion, patience, and evidence-informed techniques—methods that are tested, bring results, and that I’ve seen work firsthand while caring for babies as a nanny. I also consider outside variables, such as health conditions or developmental differences, because sometimes standard sleep techniques alone won’t work.
Because a child’s sleep is closely tied to family well-being, I emphasize realistic expectations and support parents’ well-being as well. My role is to guide families toward confidence in their unique journey, helping them create routines that feel manageable and restful for everyone.
My Mission
My mission is to help babies grow into emotionally secure, confident, and well-rested little humans through gentle, connection-based sleep and development support. By guiding parents to respond with empathy and consistency, I aim to strengthen the bond that builds lifelong secure attachment. Along the way, I help parents find calm, confidence, and balance—because supporting your baby’s emotional well-being starts with supporting you, too.
